Build your own Lamborghini Huracán

It’s no secret we like to daydream by way of manufacturer websites “build your own” feature.  We have spent a few million in fake monies building high end cars.  But we figured, hey, Lamborghini is (the good) kind of crazy, what do they have to offer?  So today we’re building our own here I am, rock you like a Huracán.  As near as I can tell, it’s the only car on Lamborghini’s website that you can configure.  So off we go!

First you choose a color.  I’ll say up front, this isn’t quite as engaging as other configurators we have used.  On each page, and there are eight total, you can modify one item.  Just one. On page one shown above, it was exterior color.  We chose Verde Mantis which is Italian for “ridiculous green”.  There is no point in owning a Lambo if you aren’t going to have a loud color, so as much as I wanted to make a cool matte black or grey, I turned it up to eleven.

Page two allows you to…um…change the color.  Again.  But from a different angle!  So hey, that’s cool.

Up next, rims!  I wanted something dark and sinister to contrast with my kermit-the-frog paint job.  But you get two 20″ options both with neat Italian names and normal colors.

Ok, this time we have to have some cool options.  Oh, it’s just the engine cover.  The black one looks badass, reminds me of an IROC Camaro.  But you spend this kind of money on a car, you want let people see the money shot.  Clear cover for me, plus it’s a composite.  That’s lighter, I assume.

Ok, bear with us, it has to pick up soon.  I assume the next page will have lasers, a double decker spoiler, or some sort of graphics package that says like “VT” or something on it.  Well, no.  But the interior is very pretty.  We chose the Terra Aeneas tone on tone color option.  Buongiorno!

I’m sorry, I’m getting bored so I’m going to speed this article up.  The next two pages include the option of a cool suede leather that looks very fetching.  I’ll take one.  Then finally there was something called the “branding package” which means you get the script “Lamborghini” on the dash, the bull on your headrests, etc.  If you’re getting a Lamborghini, you want people to know it’s a Lamborghini right?  Checked that option, I don’t want anyone thinking this is a God damned Audi.

At the end, you see your new Lambo, along with a list of the options you chose.  No machine guns, no skis, nothing that can pop out and attack pedestrians or people driving Prii.  Nothing.  I am disappointed Lamborghini.  Where’s the drama, where’s the fun?  I’m sure driving the new $200,000+ Huracán is a blast, but I’ll admit, I found the process of building on a bit bland.
