John Lindsey of NASA Pro Racing

NASA Pro Racing

Ike talks race cars with John Lindsey, General Counsel of NASA Pro Racing. They talk about how John got into cars long before he was licensed, his car history, how he got started in racing, losing his rookie stripes, and taking a shower in cheap beer. John tells us about helping to start the USC Car Club,  running the only autocross ever held at the LA Colisseum, and hooning in the streets during the LA riots when the police had more pressing issues. John then got involved with NASA, and talks about how his start in southern California turned into national involvement, why to choose NASA over competitors such as SCCA, and how NASA goes out of their way to make newcomers welcome with events such as Hyperfest. John has also volunteered at rallies, pinch hitting as heavy sweep in a rental – an experience I’m quite familiar with. He also tells us about the hilarious Irish rally drivers we have on the east coast, which I can also confirm is absolutely true. Finally, we hear about his favorite events, NASA and otherwise, the joyts of how-to DIY internet videos for the most obscure things, comparing notes on eating KFC with a spork, and how the National Auto Sport Association almost had to change their name because of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
