In this episode we talk with Alissa Walker, Urbanism Editor at Gizmodo. Alissa is known for publicly calling to ban cars, and has lived car-free in Los Angeles for the past eight years. She was also voted “Worst Driver” by her high school senior class.

We discuss Alissa’s car (and lack-of-car) history, how she gets around LA without a car and the exercise benefits of doing so, the benefits of autonomous cars, and how Alissa would redesign LA’s transportation infrastructure from the ground up. We also learn what she really means when she says “ban cars,” what future transportation options she thinks may work well for people and cargo, answers to some questions from the Oppositelock community, and some shocking revelations about her family’s taste in cars that may surprise you.
