The 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is a Fantastic Roadtrip Vehicle

This was probably the hardest vehicle I’ve ever reviewed – because I know nothing about trucks, I’m a car guy. So when I ended up with this lifted half-ton Toyota truck in my driveway, I had a hell of a hard time finding some inspiration.

So I hit the road and drove forever, until the road ended – in Percé Québec.

For those who aren’t familiar with the province of Québec, the first thing you need to know is that it’s huge, freakin huge. So huge in fact that France can fit three times in its land mass. Percé is the eastern-most village south of the Saint-Laurence river, where it enters the Atlantic ocean. It’s beautiful out there. Just to put everything into perspective, driving there and back from Montreal totals just over 2000 km, or a 20 hour drive. Travel this far in Europe, and you’ll already have driven through 3 countries.

Now, imagine doing this in a full size V8-powered truck fitted with offroad tires that does 14.9 L/100km at best. Crazy? Probably. But not a bad idea, because it turns out that the Toyota Tundra is a fantastic getaway vehicle. Check out more about my roadtrip here, or, as usual, click here to see me give this behemoth a thorough review.
