About
My name is Josh Taylor, founder of Right Foot Down. I’ve been obsessed with cars as long as I can remember. When riding around in the back seat of my parent’s pink Cadillac I would point out cars and could tell the year and model before they passed by. I recall sitting in the back seat of a 69 Chevelle when I was only about 5 years old and the sensations received from an American muscle car. My family went to drag races, circle tracks, and we tinkered with engines, so you could say I’ve been around racing in all aspects since I was a kid. When I was 15 my dad gave me an 85 Mustang GT 5.0 as my first car and it all started from there. Cars were my life. I could write a novel wrapped around my automotive interest. A common question I get is how many cars have I had, so here’s my list in order of ownership:
85 Mustang GT 5.0, 91 Mustang LX 5.0, 95 Mustang GT, 94 Acura Integra GS-R, 93 BMW 325is, 91 Acura NSX, 00 Audi A4 1.8T, 04 Nissan G35 Coupe, 03 Nissan 350Z Track, 97 BMW 328i, 99 Corvette FRC, 01 Lexus IS300, 08 Subaru STI, 03 Mini Cooper S, 99 BMW 540i, 2008 BMW Z4 Coupe
Over the years I’ve became a high performance driving instructor, participated in everything from autocross to drifting and have accumulated a wall’s worth of plaques, trophies, and bills. I’ve spent money twice over and learned from my mistakes. Now I’m putting my knowledge and opinion on the web. Together with my good friends John Shim and Brian Rivera we’re going to tell it like it is – how we see it. We’re all true unbiased car enthusiasts based out of the mid-atlantic region and we all have a story to tell.
Glance through the site, bookmark us, tell your friends, but whatever you do, stick around – this’ll be good.
Brief Bios:
John Shim
John and I met when I owned a 350Z, we planned a weekend down at Virginia International Raceway with a group of friends and John has been a great friend ever since. John’s an avid racing enthusiast and lifelong car fanatic. He got into motorsport with autocrossing in 2004 and karting in 2005 and has been attending/instructing track events, time attack, autox and drifting. Together we’ve won several karting competitions and John’s done a few on his own. In 2008, John was selected as a factory Volkswagen driver and competed in the 2008 Volkswagen TDI Cup, the first zero emissions race series. John’s latest achievement was taking first place in the Street AWD class at the Redline Time Attack hosted at New Jersey Motorsports Park in the Element Tuning WRX. The future is wide open and John is looking for various racing opportunities.
Brian Rivera
A longtime motorsports enthusiast and an encyclopedia of modern era racecars, he’s traveled to see the best American venues, from Road Atlanta, Indianapolis, to the streets of Long Beach. Whether it is F1, Indycar or Sportscar racing, he has knowledge and he has an opinion. Don’t forget though, he doesn’t just sit on the sidelines. Brian has years of autocross experience and he can hold his own as a cone killing shoe.
